You Dial the Number, We’ll Make the Call

The Governor’s Child Welfare Plan Keeping Kids Safe and Families Healthy called for a five-year public awareness and prevention campaign, to coincide with a new statewide hotline with one number to report child abuse or neglect across Colorado. The purpose of the Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline is to promote greater safety for Colorado’s children and emphasize that everyone in the community plays a role in the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

The agency’s primary objective in Year One was to increase awareness of the state’s new toll-free child abuse and neglect hotline. In Year Two, we switched gears to accentuate the education of the general public on how to identify suspected child abuse and neglect, while reminding them that if they see or hear something that concerns them, they should “dial the number” and allow CDHS and county human services staff to “make the call.”
